The City of Duarte is proud to sponsor a free community screening of the award winning documentary film “Crows of the Desert – A Hero’s Journey through the Armenian Genocide,” at the Duarte Performing Arts Center (PAC), 1401 Highland Ave., Duarte on April 4, 2019 at 6:00 pm. The event coincides with the City’s recognition of Armenian History Month and will also feature rare photographs and rediscovered archives documenting both the terror and heroism of the period on display in the Center’s lobby.
Co-sponsors of the Duarte event include Los Angeles County Supervisor Kathryn Barger, District 5; the Duarte Historical Society; the Duarte Community Education Foundation; the Armenian Assembly of America; the Tekeyan Cultural Association, Metro LA Chapter; and the LA Harbor International Film Festival (LAHIFF).
The free screening, open to the public, will begin with a reception at 6:00 pm in the PAC lobby, film screens at 7 pm sharp, and will conclude with a panel discussion featuring the film’s director, producer, and writer Marta Houske; grandsons Levon Parian and Levon Yotnakhparian; and members of the production team including composer, John Massari.
